Help · How to use Todo
- Choose a section
- Tap a tab. The + beside the tabs adds a section, up to ten. Use Rename to change its name. Private, Family, and Other cannot be deleted.
- Add a todo
- Type in “What needs doing?” and tap + Add todo. New todos appear at the bottom. Each section holds ten todos, with titles up to 40 characters.
- Add and fold subtasks
- Tap + on a todo to add up to five subtasks. The arrow hides or shows them; its count shows how many are done.
- Finish a todo
- Tick every subtask first, then tick the todo. Adding or reopening an unfinished subtask reopens its parent.
- Edit, color, or delete
- Tap ⋯ on an item. A todo’s Background color also colors its subtasks. New todos receive a random color.
- Share and sync
- Choose a tab and tap Share or Sync this tab. On the other device, open Todo → Sync this tab → Scan QR. Scan the code, read a QR image, or paste a text code; review and merge. Then scan the receiving device’s QR back to bring both copies up to date. Only that section is included.
- Keep a backup
- Download backup saves all sections. Restore backup replaces this browser’s lists. Clearing browser storage removes your lists. Open Todo online once to use it offline.
Anyone with a section’s QR can read its tasks; “Private” is a name, not a password. If the QR fills up, shorten titles or move tasks to a new section.
Update Todo on both devices before syncing new codes. This version creates compact EA2 codes and can still read older EA1 codes. The space meter measures QR capacity; longer titles and deletion history also use space.
Usage analytics On
Google Analytics is on by default to help us understand page visits and use of QR sync, including showing or sharing a code and merging received data. It uses cookies and receives basic browser and device information and your IP address.
We do not send todo text, section names, checkboxes, QR contents, or backups to Google. Your lists stay in this browser; QR sync still transfers them directly between devices.
You can turn analytics off here at any time and keep using every feature. We remember your choice on this device for the Todo page. Google’s privacy policy ↗
